A new hospital was opened in Windsor, Nova Scotia, in 1976 and the name was changed to the Hants Community Hospital to reflect the fact that the patient catchement area now includes Hants Country and adjoining communities.
The auxiliary's purpose is to supply needed equipment to enhance the comfort and care of patients (over and above that which is provided by hospital care expenditures). For the past 105 years, auxiliary members have been involved in a variety of fund raising activities to facilitate these goals.
The Hants Community Hospital Auxiliary Society has recently been granted charitable status and is therefore able to issue tax reciepts for donations.
